REINVIGORATED SUN VALLEY BEAUTIFUL WINS ENVIRONMENTAL KUDOS
FROM LA CITY COUNCIL
Sun Valley, April 7, 2008 – Sun Valley Beautiful's recently reinvigorated efforts to improve the quality of life and the environment in Sun Valley are being recognized by the City of Los Angeles in a ceremony on April 18, 2008 to commemorate Earth Month and the efforts of environmental heroes.
Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry, Chair of the Energy and Environment Council Committee, and Detrich B. Allen, General Manager of the Environmental Affairs Department, will be presenting a Certificate of Recognition to Sun Valley Beautiful on April 18 at the City of Los Angeles City Hall. SVB representatives will then proceed to the City Council Chambers for acknowledgement by the entire City of Los Angeles City Council.
"I was very pleased to nominate Sun Valley Beautiful for this recognition. The work that SVB, in conjunction with the Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce, has done in Sun Valley, including tree plantings, community clean ups, beautification of medians and organizing the Earth Day event, have really helped to improve the area," said Councilmember Tony Cardenas.
"Sun Valley Beautiful really has made a difference in our neighborhood," said Ted Bradpiece, President of the Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce. "We are so pleased that the City of Los Angeles is acknowledging our efforts."

Sun Valley Beautiful, created by Sun Valley business leaders and the Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce in January 2004, has initiated several community and environmental improvement projects as part of its mission to make Sun Valley a better place to live and work. Sun Valley Beautiful developed in part as a response to negative criticisms and portrayals of the area. Participating businesses want to be more visibly active in their economic development, community enhancement and philanthropic work. In addition to this "gateway" program, Sun Valley Beautiful has sponsored annual Earth Day Expos, community planning meetings, and has supported other efforts to improve the quality of life in Sun Valley and the northeast San Fernando Valley.
